The beautiful city of Jaipur was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai
Singh whose initial capital used to be at Amer. The capital was
moved in the year 1727 from Amer to Jaipur. The Amer region like
Jaipur houses many historical monuments that were built by the
Rajputana rulers. The local tourist attractions at Amer has enabled
it to maintain the stronghold on the tourist map of India.
The erstwhile capital of the Kachhawaha rulers, Amer, is located
towards the north-east of Jaipur and at a distance of about 11 kms.
The palace complex at Amer is provided with halls, pavillions,
gardens and temples.The local attractions include Diwan-E-Am,
Diwan-E-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, Jau Mandir, Sukh Niwas, Shila Mata
Temple and Jagat Shiromani Temple and Kesar Kyari.
The pillared halls that is Diwani-E-Am used to be the Hall Of
Public Audience and Diwan-E-Khas the Hall Of Private Audience. The
Sukh Niwas is provided with channels of water over which cool breeze
blows and provides natural air-conditioning. The nearby Jas Mandir
is an architectural spectacle and a medley of Mughal and Rajasthani
architecture.

- Amer region is about 11 kms from the city centre. The place
lies north of the city and regular bus service is provided by
the regional trasport community.
- Amer is about 23 kms from the nearest airport that is
Sanganer (Jaipur) Airport.
