As Jaipur is popular for Carpets and Durries, Block Printing,
Stone Carving etc. Painting is also one of the popular art of
Jaipur. From the 16th century onwards, there are many schools of
paintings like the Mewar school, the Bundi - Kota Kalam, the Jaipur,
Bikaner, Kishangarh. The paintings have their own unique styles as
the hills and valleys, deserts, palaces and forts, gardens, court
scenes, religious processions and very interesting scenes from the
life of Lord Krishna were the recurrent themes of these paintings.
Basically, use of dynamic colours, bold lines, two dimensional
treatment of figures and entire composition distributed in
compartments are some of the unique features of these paintings,
known as 'phad' paintings. The various paintings of Jaipur are as

Wall Painting
Wall Paintings occupy an esteemed place in the art tradition of
India. Walls and ceilings decorated with colourful paintings in
Jaipur. Some of the greatest frescos adorn the havelis of the
Shekhawati region and the ancient towns of Bundi and Kota. Other
some of the most pleasant on the wall of houses covered up in the
lanes of Jaisalmer.
Cloth Paintings
There are other forms of paintings available as the phad and the
pichwai with their Krishna legend. The best center of pichwai is
Nathdwara near Udaipur. These paintings have completed with bright
colours with bold lines and strong religious traditions.
Miniature Paintings
Jaipur's miniature paintings are famous in all over the world.
Different schools of this fascinating art have flourished here since
the 16th century, some of the important paintings are at Mewar,
Marwar, Amber, Kishangarh and Hadoti. The Kishangarh school is best
known for its Bani Thani paintings. These paintings adorn with
hills, valleys, gardens, palaces, courts and themes from the
Ramayana, Krishna Lila and the Gita Govindam have also been
pictorially translated.
