Tonk is located in the state of Rajasthan about 90 kms from
Jaipur. Tonk is an interesting tourist place. The region is
sometimes called as the Lucknow of Rajasthan', due to the presence
of mosques and exuberant mansions. The small town was ruled by
several Afghan tribesin the past. The place has preserved many

It is a beautiful palace and is also known by the name of Golden
Bungalow. The exteriors look quite simple and ordinary but the real
source of amusement lies inside. The interiors of the haveli are
ornamented with many precious and semi precious stones.
Arabic and Persian Research Institute: The research institute in
Tonk houses a library that contains Arabic and Persian manuscripts.
The research institute developed as a consequence of heightened
interest of the Nawab of Tonk in Arabic and Persian literature.
Climate:
The climate of Tonk is hot and dry. Maximum temperature in summers
reach to about 45 C wherass in winters it is 22 C. In winters the
minmum temperature reaches to about 8 C and in summers a minimum of
26 is observed.
Accessibility:
Air: The nearest airport to Tonk is Jaipur's domestic aiport
which is about 82 kms from Tonk.
Railways:
Trains bound to travel from Mumbai to Delhi passes through Tonk.
Roads:
The national highway number 12 passes through Tonk. Tonk is as such
connected to Jaipur and Jabalpur. The latter are connected to the
rest of the country.
