The city of Jaipur houses some of the beautiful monuments in
India. The land of Pink City has preserved the rich Rajputana
culture for centuries now. The local rulers have left their mark in
the form of grand palaces and forts which they built in the city.
These monuments provide insights of the culture and customs of past
India. It is as if the whole story of Jaipur is written on these
structures. The structures reveal the grandiosity and prosperity as
was enjoyed by these local kings. The monuments in Jaipur city
emphasize two important faculties that is Class and Strategic
Planning.
The monuments in Jaipur comprise of the forts and palaces built by
the Maharajas. The structures built primarily in sandstone present a
picturesque view and supplement the idea of Pink City. The palaces
provided the dwelling place to the maharajas and the forts were
built to protect the city of Jaipur from foreign invasions. Most of
the forts were built at strategic positions so as to provide
millitary advantage. The palaces on the other hand were provided
with courtyards and temples. The walls of the palaces were laden
with precious stones and paintings. There are inscriptions on the
walls of these palaces that tell us about various practices followed
during that period of time. The monuments of Jaipur reveal a
definite blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architectural feat.
